Villa Stéphanie private park offers the ideal setting for outdoor yoga

Find your inner peace and gather new strength - Villa Stéphanie´s private park offers the ideal setting for outdoor Yoga. ‘Yoga was originally practiced in the great outdoors al well as in confined candlelit spaces,’ says personal trainer Katharina Sippel. In her experience, spring and summer are the perfect time for venturing outside with your yoga mat and enjoying fresh air combined with relaxation exercises.

1
Outdoor yoga reduces stress levels

A Vitamin D deficiency is often linked to feeling constantly tired and having a hard time dealing with daily stress. Exercising in the sun lets the body ‘refuel’ with vitamin D. Green spaces, trees and flowering plants are seen as stress-free elements, and there are no loud noises preventing you from concentrating on what’s most important to you at the moment – your own well-being.

2
What does breathing fully mean?

‘Most people breathe too quickly and not deeply enough nowadays,’ explains the expert. This results in an impaired metabolism. A yoga session starts off with guided breathing exercises, which can be discreetly practiced in stressful everyday situations.

3
Pranayama:
The best breathing exercises

‘Prana means life force, Yama stands for control,’ explains Katharina Sippel. She demonstrates simple exercises that can help detoxify the body and mind while sitting or lying down. She recommends beginners use a stopwatch to check their breathing: 12 to 16 deep breaths per minute are ideal for adults.

4
An added bonus: Replenished vitamins

During outdoor yoga, Vitamin D is automatically absorbed into the body and oxygen absorption is optimised. The breakdown of the stress hormone cortisol is positively influenced, as is the formation
of vitamin B12, also known as an energy booster. An improved complexion is a visual side effect.

Expert tips

A small yet effective break: after and especially when returning to everyday life from Villa Stéphanie, Katharina Sippel recommends practicing yoga for at least 20 minutes once a day, preferably outside, in the park, on the terrace, or on the balcony. Drinking enough fluids throughout the day also helps to keep the body and mind fit for everyday life. She is also happy to give individual tips to participants in the yoga classes, which are offered to Villa Stéphanie guests and hotel guests on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
