Always close to the guest

In Focus: Steffen Waldmann

He is as old as Europa-Park and has already spent more than half his life here. Steffen Waldmann has been working at Europa-Park for 22 years. Except for “El Andaluz”, he has been involved in the design of all our hotels from the very beginning. He has been Deputy Director of the resort for ten years. After completing an apprenticeship in hotel management, he immediately settled in Rust, not only because he was attracted to Europa-Park as an employer, but also because he is a huge fan of amusement parks in general. He has visited almost every park in Europe, and he also knows his way around the world – especially when it comes to shows. Hotels are also his hobby. “I like to look at other hotels when I am on vacation. When I fly to New York, I try to check into four different hotels in four days. I am simply fascinated, I find it exciting and I can also find one or two things that I can implement in my work at Europa-Park.” This can be extremely broad ranging from technical service, digitisation and property management to projects such as the development of the new hotel app.

What is the most important thing in your job? “Always being close to the guest. You can only do that by going out of the office. Then you see the world through the eyes of the guest and the employee.” Due to the number of one- and two-day visitors, no hotel handles as many guest changes as the Europa-Park Resort. “We're pushing the boundaries,” says Waldmann. “This means that we must maintain high quality and efficiency and, above all, guarantee individual service despite the high numbers of visitors that come through our doors.”
