“Svalgurok – the Nordic outdoor slide world”

So far, the Rulantica water world has offered a large indoor range of attractions and experiences. Now the spectacular outdoor area “Svalgurok - the Nordic outdoor slide world” has been added. With ten slides, a moving dragon's head and more than a hundred play opportunities, “Svalgurok”, together with “Snorri Strand”, is Germany's largest open-air water playground. Around 1,000 visitors can enjoy themselves on a total area of 10,000 square metres (the equivalent of just under 1.5 football pitches). “Svalgurok is also one of the largest outdoor water playgrounds in Europe,” explains Rulantica director Michael Kreft von Byern. “What is unique, however, is the combination with another unusual theme.”

Despite the Corona pandemic, Europa-Park has not lost its innovative strength and its belief in the success of Rulantica. The new themed area sits enthroned in the landscape like a mighty fortress and continues the approach to the visual design of the Rulantica story already used for the Water World with elaborate painted decorations. The focus is on the sea snake “Svalgur”, which many Europa Park fans know from the novels written for kids and teens about the Rulantica saga. The head of the water snake watches over a large slide tower. “We have a wide variety of different slides,” says Kreft von Byern. As in Rulantica, “Svalgurok” features a funnel slide, parallel slide and wave slide. In contrast to the indoor water world, where you slide down several slides on tyres, the guests in the outdoor area whizz into the refreshing water with only their bodies – sometimes faster, sometimes slower. Another visual highlight is a “Tipping Bucket”, a gigantic water bucket that can be filled with up to 2,500 litres. It sways back and forth high above and pours water over the bathers standing below it several times an hour. But visitors are also allowed to actively shape their water fun. For this, they will find around 100 play opportunities, some of which are interactive.

“Snorri Strand” has been built so that even very small children and their parents can have undisturbed fun with small slides, for example. The splashy attractions take you into the world of the Sixtopus mascot Snorri. The area is located right next to the exciting hustle and bustle in “Svalgurok”.
Visitors can let off steam in the outdoor area, but also relax: More than 1,000 additional sunbeds are spread around “Svalgurok” and “Snorri Strand”. In addition, additional “beach sofas” and “beach islands” offer special comfort. The food court “Strand Kök” with several places to have a bite to eat will satisfy every tastebud. The Scandinavian culinary offerings range from fish sandwiches, salads and bowls to kötbullar meatballs and salmon hot dogs.
