Opening hearts

Balance sheet "Opening Hearts" since 1975

From the first day Europa-Park opened its doors in 1975, the company has been involved in social and cultural activities. This commitment is one of the central social cornerstones of the Mack families. High double-digit millions of euros have been donated to charitable causes over the years. In addition, Europa-Park regularly promotes art and cultural exchange. However, this balance sheet is not characterized by numbers, but it is a balance sheet of the heart of a family business that is firmly rooted in the region. The following examples show how Europa-Park provides happy moments not only with its great attractions, but also with other commitments, according to the motto: ‘Open hearts’. Europa-Park is the park of happy hearts.

Next year, the hike should be possible again for a whole week.

Hiking for a good cause: "simply run for simply help" once again a great success

The Mack family is delighted with this trusting co-operation. After the extended walk, this year's guests met at Europa-Park's Camp Resort.

Music unites more than 500 pupils from the border triangle

Children and young people from France, Germany and Switzerland come together at Europa-Park for the cross-border choir and dance project ‘Fantastikinder’ (or ‘Enfantastiques’ in French). For this purpose, the participants aged eight to 13 have learned a common repertoire of dances in school lessons. Even though the sequence of steps in the dance can be followed entirely without a language barrier, the pupils also rely on a basic knowledge of the neighbour's language during the exchange encounters. This is how the ‘Fantastikinder’ and ‘Enfantastiques’ were finally able to form a large, cross-border choir at Europa-Park.
The initiative is organised by the Rectorate of the Strasbourg Academy, the Freiburg Regional Council and the Department of Education of the Canton of Basel-Stadt. ‘Bring colour into your life!’

What is your favourite colour? Red or green? You would never wear orange but find a bright blue irresistible? The colours we love say a lot about us, because they represent parts of our personality. Colours are not just colourful - they have power and impact. It is the colours of our clothes, our living spaces and the workplace that often influence us unconsciously, but also have a special effect on other people. On 9 and 12 October, Karsten Homann spoke about this colourful topic as part of Marianne Mack's voluntary lecture series ‘New Perspectives’. The speaker, in whose veins ‘colour’ flows, received no fee. The guests' donations of twelve euros per audience member were passed on directly to people in need who have to bear a heavy fate via Marianne Mack's support association ‘Santa Isabel e.V. - Hilfe für Kinder und Familien’.

Joint commitment of the ‘Kirche im Europa-Park’ and ‘missio’.

For many years, there has been a close cooperation between Europa-Park and the international Catholic mission organisation ‘missio Aachen’. Christian charity is the main focus for the owner family Mack, as Jürgen Mack emphasised at a meeting. Since 2005, the ‘Kirche im Europa-Park’ (Church at Europa-Park) with the two park chaplains Andreas Wilhelm and Martin Lampeitl has offered a contact point and a place of peace amidst the lively hustle and bustle. In addition, more than 100 baptisms and weddings are celebrated in Germany's largest theme park every year. At a meeting of missio Aachen employees with Jürgen and Mauritia Mack, the Europa Park owner reaffirmed his commitment to humanitarian aid. As part of the ‘MyMission’ campaign, which also made a stop at the Norwegian stave church of Germany's largest theme park, the aid organisation offered people the opportunity to answer the question of what drives them in their lives. Jürgen Mack spontaneously named his very own mission: ‘To make people happy’.

He rode the tour alone and also visited various companies and institutions to draw attention to the important children's hospice work. Campaign of the Bundesverband Kinderhospiz

Antonia, long brown hair, big dark eyes, pink anorak and thick winter boots, sits on her father's lap and gazes intently up into the air. Up there, surely five or six metres above her, daring trapeze artists whirl through the air. After each successful trick, the petite nine-year-old smiles, raises her delicate hands a little, claps and then rests them on her thighs again. We can only guess how difficult the applause is for her. In fact, it probably costs Antonia a lot of willpower and energy, because she suffers from an incurable, special type of muscular atrophy, spinal muscular atrophy. This disease gradually robs her of all bodily control and will significantly shorten her lifespan. ‘Clapping has become difficult for her,’ says Isolde, Antonia's mother. Invited by the Federal Association of Children's Hospices, Antonia, her big brother and their parents visited Europa-Park and enjoyed, among other things, Europa-Park's circus revue.
