Have fun and do good

Spectacular galas at Europa-Park make waves and generate large donations for social causes

For several years, Europa-Park has been organizing sensational galas for good causes. There is always a flurry of camera flashes, because many stars like Katarina Witt or Thomas Gottschalk like to be part of the action. The program includes spectacular shows and an exquisite menu - but the extraordinary events are never an end in themself, but generate large donations for people in need. One example is the glamorous charity gala “Helfen hilft!” (“Helping helps!”), which Europa-Park has been organizing together with TV producer Werner Kimmig in the pre-Christmas season since 2003. Through these vents, a total donation of more than 1.5 million euros could already be collected for the benefit of the “Förderverein für krebskranke Kinder e. V.” in Freiburg. Extraordinary events included the charity event “Tribute to Bambi” in cooperation with the magazine „Bunte“ in 2008 and the “Europa- Park & Power-Child Charity Night” in 2005. They each raised around 500,000 euros. In 2013 and 2014, Europa-Park even hosted the José Carreras Gala, which is one of the most successful charity galas on German television. Former Bunte editor-in-chief Patricia Riekel sums up the purpose of all Europa-Park galas: “Having fun and doing good – they’re not mutually exclusive.”
